The Jay Nolan Community Services (JNCS) Training program provides training to new employees so that they are equipped with the information and skills they need to be successful on the job, as well as ongoing training.

Bet Tzedek offers free legal services for child guardians and conservators. The purpose is to help keep children with their families, or help individuals with disabilities avoid institutionalization.

Meals on Wheels of Long Beach provides home-delivered nutritionally balanced meals for Long Beach area residents, on a long-term or temporary basis. Meals deliveries include a hot dinner, cold lunch, dessert, and beverage.

Alma Family Services’ Socialization Training Program teaches students with developmental disabilities social skills. The class focuses on the positive social development of each student. Ages 5 – 21.

The Giant Steps Community Integration Day Program provides community based group trainings and activities where individuals are able to explore their local communities through volunteering, sports, and computer training. Transportation is provided.

Foothill Transit offers discounted transit fares for seniors, individuals with disabilities, and individuals with Medicare.

CDI provides therapy and developmental services for children age 5 and younger struggling with sleeping, eating, bathing, self care, coordinating body movements, interacting with others or exploring and playing. CDI offers occupational and physical therapy and will create an individual plan for each child.

New Horizons’ Youth Navigation Program supports students with developmental disabilities and their families in the transition from high school to adult services.

New Horizons Residential program allows adults with developmental disabilities to live in one of 13 residential homes located throughout the San Fernando Valley. Staff are available 24/7 to support residents’ basic needs and independent living skills.

New Horizons’ Achievement Center is a day training program for people with disabilities that provides education in functional living skills, including cooking, money management, personal hygiene, computer skills, arts and crafts, emergency skills, and recreation.

County-Wide Benefits Entitlements Services (CBEST) program helps qualified homeless individuals or Veterans with mental and physical health issues apply for disability programs including Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Social Security Disability Income (SSDI), Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants (CAPI), Veterans Benefits for all former or active military, and housing benefits.

Social Vocational Services’ program works with clients referred to find jobs that match their personal experiences, skills, and interests. Development activities may include help with career planning, resumes, applications, interviews, and assessments.

The Supported Employment Program (SEP) offers work opportunities in local businesses to small groups of individuals with disabilities, including training and supervision from a job coach and 5 to 8 hours of work per day.

Social Vocational Services, Inc. provides supported employment for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Services are provided on both an individual and group basis, with assistance from a job coach.

Family Support Services teach families how to better advocate for their child and how they can participate in the services their child is receiving from ECF. It also provides parent support groups, parent education and training, one-on-one social work support, crisis counseling, marriage and family counseling, an on-site emergency food pantry, and a family resource center.

The City of Norwalk provides information about the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Program. This program helps pay for services provided to Medi-Cal recipients who are 65 years of age or older, or legally blind, or adults and children with a disability, so they can remain safely in their home.

InClusion Services offers home-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services for children and adults with developmental disabilities. Board-Certified Behavioral Analysts help guide individuals to improve communication, manage behaviors, and learn skills.

Carolyn Kordich Family Resource Center offers emotional, informational and educational support to families of children up to age 3 who have disabilities or are at risk of a disability so they can make appropriate decisions for their infants and toddlers.

Home-based services provide early childhood education in conjunction with parent education via a home visiting service delivery model. Based on an assessment of each family’s needs, strengths, and challenges, an individualized service plan is developed to identify the appropriate activities and support that will be most helpful for the child’s healthy development. Home visits can occur on a weekly or monthly basis depending on each family’s needs.

WISE & Healthy Aging’s Adult Day Service Center offers activities for adults with Alzheimer’s so that caregivers can go to work, do other tasks, or take a much needed break. They also offer support groups and educational seminars for caregivers.
