The United States Adaptive Recreation Center offers opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in adaptive skiing or snowboarding sports during the winter (December-March). Half-day or full-day lessons include private instruction and equipment. Reservation required.

Receive occupational therapy for children

Exceptional Children’s Foundation offers occupational therapy for children who have or who are at risk for physical or cognitive deficits, psychosocial dysfunction, mental illness, developmental and/or learning disorders, and maladaptive behaviors. Therapy is focused on work and play activities that help children improve or restore function, enhance development and prevent disability brought on by illness, injury, or deprivation.

Clothes the Deal’s Business Clothes Program provides job seekers with high quality new and recycled men’s and women’s professional attire. This includes specific programs for formerly incarcerated and disabled individuals seeking clothing for a job.

Get delivered meals for seniors

Home delivered meals are available for homebound qualifying Norwalk Seniors age 60 and older and to physically disabled residents, regardless of age.

Locate a local regional center

California Department of Developmental Services offers an online search tool to find a local regional center. Non-profit organizations called regional centers provide diagnosis and assessment of eligibility and help plan, access, coordinate and monitor the services. There is no charge for the diagnosis and eligibility assessment. Once eligibility is determined, most services are free regardless of age or income.

Get rehabilitation services for individuals with disabilities

The Client Assistance Program helps people with disabilities get rehabilitation services from the Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) such as training, school, and a job. Staff will help individuals determine if they qualify for services and develop an Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE).

Homes for Life Foundation provides individual and group sessions for adults with mental disabilities. Services are of a supportive and problem solving nature and focus on reducing symptoms and functional impairments.

Champions in Service provides help with applying for nutrition (CalFresh), disability, unemployment and general assistance.

City of Pasadena offers consumer action services such as small claims, restraining orders, unlawful detainers, landlord tenant issues, Social Security, CAlFresh, disability, Medi-Cal, CalWorks, legal name change, housing applications, and more.

Get help finding permanent housing for individuals living with HIV

CHOISS (Community Housing Options and Independent Supportive Sites – pronounced “choice”) is designed to allow individuals dealing with symptomatic HIV and a verified second diagnosis–such as mental illness, substance abuse or physical disability–to live on their own, either alone or with family members, rather than on the street. The housing consists of nearly 125 rental units leased across Los Angeles County.

Disability Rights California Office of Clients’ Rights Advocacy (OCRA) advises people with disabilities about their legal, civil, and service rights. They can also provide assistance to disabled individuals in obtaining basic support, personal care, therapy, and health care such as In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) and Medi-Cal.

Get taxi vouchers for seniors in Monterey Park

Monterey Park offers a low cost transportation program through its Dial-A-Taxi program. Eligible residents aged 55 and older or who have a certified disability are able to shop, dine, and visit any location in the city or go to approved satellite medical facilities and hospitals 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
