AbilityFirst’s after-school and summer programs provide social and recreational activities for children and youth with disabilities. Participants can learn basic life skills, communication and language skills development, socialization, and more.

DRC provides assistive technology for people with disabilities such as computer training with adaptive equipment and software, braille keyboards, education on high and low tech equipment, Dragon Naturally Speaking, JAWS, ZoomText; plus free reading glasses, canes, and gloves. DRC also offers classes and demonstrations to teach people to use assisted technology.

Disabled Resource Center of Long Beach provides personal assistance referrals for people with disabilities. Services include help with personal care, household duties, meal preparation, shopping, transportation and medications.

GLAD helps individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing develop independent living skills such as money management, banking, housing, cooking, shopping, computers, and transportation.

Independent Living Center of Southern California provides peer support groups.

The Seating Center provides evaluations and recommendations for wheelchairs and related equipment to improve comfort and usability in sitting or moving around. Services include cushion, wheelchair, and scooter, and sitting posture evaluations.

Several taxicab companies in Torrance participate in the Dial-A-Taxi program. Eligible Torrance residents can purchase credits for taxi rides at a discounted cost.

Home Improvement Program provides free home improvement services for people with a disability and senior citizens in Torrance. Services include disability home upgrades, light plumbing, yard services, paint, and minor repairs.

Torrance-Lomita Meals on Wheels delivers daily meals to people who are homebound.

Lutheran Social Services – San Gabriel Valley provides cases management services for individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Services include assessments, planning, care coordination, evaluation, and more.

MVA provides online and in-person assistance and information on benefits entitlements for veterans, including benefits for prisoners of war (POWs), disability compensation, burial benefits, dependent benefits, incarcerated veteran benefits, and more.

Southland Lutheran offers independent or assisted living facilities for seniors.

Long Beach Meals on Wheels delivers daily meals to older adults or those who are homebound. All meals are low sodium and low cholesterol, and desserts for diabetics are available. Meals are not delivered on weekends.

DASH is a reservation-only service that travels in and around Lakewood. DASH transit service is free to Lakewood residents 60 years of age or older without their own transportation and to disabled residents of any age.

Latino Diabetes Association partners with pharmacies that provide free glucose meters for participants in their programs.

The User-Subsidy Taxicab Program is available to registered Dial-A-Ride members who have transportation needs to pre-approved Medical Facilities outside of the City of Norwalk and accessible taxicab voucher service. A Swipe TaxiCard is required to use this service.

CAPC, Inc. provides case management services to adults 18 years and older. They assist individuals in developing support systems within their communities.

REACH helps individuals with communication barriers and their communication partners better understand the individual’s communication needs, with the least amount of support necessary. All communication coaching is provided by trained staff.

REACH provides Supported Living Services by helping individuals with disabilities such as cerebral palsy or autism find and coordinate support in order to live more independently.

DCBA offers certification programs for small businesses. Certified businesses may participate in Los Angeles County’s preference programs which offer incentives to business owners who are minorities, women, disadvantaged, or disabled veterans.
