Get assistive technology for individuals with disabilities

DRC provides assistive technology for people with disabilities such as computer training with adaptive equipment and software, braille keyboards, education on high and low tech equipment, Dragon Naturally Speaking, JAWS, ZoomText; plus free reading glasses, canes, and gloves. DRC also offers classes and demonstrations to teach people to use assisted technology.

Get a wheelchair or sitting posture evaluation

The Seating Center provides evaluations and recommendations for wheelchairs and related equipment to improve comfort and usability in sitting or moving around. Services include cushion, wheelchair, and scooter, and sitting posture evaluations.

Get benefits assistance for veterans

MVA provides online and in-person assistance and information on benefits entitlements for veterans, including benefits for prisoners of war (POWs), disability compensation, burial benefits, dependent benefits, incarcerated veteran benefits, and more.

Get meals delivered for elderly and disabled persons

Long Beach Meals on Wheels delivers daily meals to older adults or those who are homebound. All meals are low sodium and low cholesterol, and desserts for diabetics are available. Meals are not delivered on weekends.

Get communication coaching for individuals with disabilities

REACH helps individuals with communication barriers and their communication partners better understand the individual’s communication needs, with the least amount of support necessary. All communication coaching is provided by trained staff.
