February 23: Angel City Sports LA Adaptive Sports Fair | Los Angeles

You’re invited to participate with Thrive Adaptive as a general volunteer for the LA Adaptive Sports Fair with our hosts from Angel City Sports. This event is designed to empower individuals impacted by gun violence.

Experience an exciting day filled with: Adaptive sports like wheelchair football, basketball, tennis, boccia, and para-fencing. Live music, a DJ, and incredible performances. Delicious food and access to local resources for those affected by gun violence.

Opportunities to connect with local organizations making a difference. Special guests, including a representative from the LA City Council office, will be there to show their support.

Whether you’re an athlete, a supporter, or simply curious, come celebrate resilience and community. Don’t miss this inspiring day!

 

Angel City Sports: Adaptive Functional Fitness Class – Burbank, CA

Join our community partners from Angel City Sports at Strange Strength and Conditioning on the first Sunday every month for an adaptive functional fitness class coached by 2X Fittest Neuro Major Woman in the World, Anna Stern.

The class is appropriate for people ages 13 and up. People with all forms of disabilities are welcome

Participants should feel free to bring a family member or caregiver for assistance.

March 23: LuskinOIC | UCLA Center for Cerebral Palsy Professional Conference and Family Forum

Join the UCLA Center for Cerebral Palsy for their annual professional conference and family forum. More than 100 PTs and families will join together at for a day of knowledge, networking and resources to empower kids with CP at LuskinOIC’s downtown campus. Attendees will hear from NIH Tenured researcher Diane Domiano and Director of UCLA Center for Cerebral Palsy Dr. Rachel Thompson on the latest evidence based research on the benefits of early intervention and PT for pediatric patients with CP.

The event will culminate with a full resource fair including community partners from Disability Resource Center, Regional Center, Abilitease, Socal Trykers, Go Baby Go, LuskinOIC Orthopaedic Rehabilitation, PlayLA, Inclusive Sol, Angel City Sports, Inclusion Matters / Shane’s Inspiration.

March 15-17: Abilities Expo Los Angeles

The Abilities Expo is an annual event with around 3,000 attendees at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The free event consist of a full hall of service providers, community organizations, demonstrators and attendees seeking the latest and greatest aiming to support folks with disabilities.

This is a great opportunity to for folks to learn more about the mobility industry and service providers working directly with the disability community.

March 15-17: USA Para Track and Field Nationals

The United States Para Track and Field Nationals are coming to Hilmer Stadium at Mount San Antonio (Mt. Sac) Junior College. March 15-17.

This is NOT A MEDICAL VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY 

However, there are open event volunteer roles with United States Para Track and Field for those who are interested in supporting the National Championship.

April 27 & 28 Triumph Foundation Adaptive Sports Festival | Santa Clarita

Medical volunteers needed: Thrive Adaptive is thrilled to support the Triumph Foundation Adaptive Sports Festival, April 27-28 at the Santa Clarita Recreation Centre.

Join us for one of the largest events of the year as more than 1,000 athletes of all abilities will join for a weekend of inclusive fun featuring more than 30 adapted sports ranging from WCMX to beep baseball and the legendary wheelchair obstacle course.

Angel City Sports Youth Weekend

The 2024 Angel City Sports Youth Weekend is a two-day event introducing kids from ages 18 & under to adaptive sports and a celebration of what is possible. This year we feature 8+ adaptive sport clinics across 2 days. By the end of the weekend, all participants will be able to compete!

Wheelchair Basketball Practice with Angel City Sports

Join us to learn wheelchair basketball and sharpen your skills!  We will have an open gym with various basketball skills and drills led by experienced coaches from the Angel City Sports Wheelchair Basketball Program.

This is open to individuals of all ages and skill levels, beginner to advanced!  You may bring your own sports chair or use one from Angel City Sports.  Sign up at the following link and be ready to ball!
